So you’re signed up for portraits. Now what?
We’ve compiled a small list of tips and tricks to help you best prepare and arrive confident and ready for your portrait. As always, if you have any additional questions, please email us at hello@wearetheworkmans.com.
1. Please be mindful for the color background that will be used on the day that you've chosen. You can see which color is being used on which day and examples of the colors at wearetheworkmans.com/garage-sessions. If you are still unsure which color you're being photographed on, send us an email!
2. If you wear glasses, depending on how anti-reflective your glasses are, we may need to shoot some photos with and without them. We will do our best to play around with the light, but we still want it to look natural, in light and in posture.
For the ladies.
3. Make up. Whether you wear a little or a lot, it can make a huge difference in a portrait. You should apply some makeup about 10-15% heavier than normal. Pay attention to your eyes and lips (matte lipstick photographs the best). Don’t over do it and not be yourself, but if you look washed out, that won’t make for a great portrait either.
4. Please wear a full coverage bra or a shirt that fits well so we will not see the outline of your bra. If you’re unsure, you can bring a few options, but we suggest trying your top on in front of a mirror.
5. If you have some, bring a pair of heels for your portrait. You can put them on right before we take your photo if you don’t want to wear them when you arrive. It will help with best posture and being “forward” in your appearance to the camera. If you don’t have any or can’t wear them, we can always stick sandbags under your feet to create the same look.
